About
Aiden is a part-time advisor to the Centre, specialising in psychometrics and data science topics on a range of research and development projects. He also teaches several of our methods workshops which run several times a year. Aiden worked as a Psychometrician and then Senior Psychometrician at the Centre from 2018 to June 2022, before taking up a senior role at a Talent Intelligence company. He completed his PhD in Psychology at the University of Cambridge in 2018, having graduated in 2014 with a Distinction MPhil in Social and Developmental Psychology. He received a 1st Class Honours in Psychology and Business Management (MA) at the University of Glasgow in 2013.
Aiden is involved in modelling latent factors in psychological scales and educational assessment using IRT and MIRT models. His primary research looks at ways of automating the design of new items with predictable characteristics through approaches such as crowdsourcing, rule-based and machine learning algorithms.
Aiden is concerned with understanding the intersection of human and machine intelligence and assessing the impact of explainable algorithms. He has conducted extensive research on explanatory IRT models.
Aiden is open to research avenues in computer adaptive testing, on-the-fly psychological testing, automatic item generation, explanatory algorithmic models.
He is a Certified BPS Occupational Test User of Ability (Former Level A) and Personality (Former Level B).
