The Psychometrics Centre

Cambridge Judge Business School

(Online) BPS and EFPA Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU)

The Psychometrics Centre runs courses leading to the British Psychological Society (BPS) Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU) for Ability tests (formerly Level A) and Personality tests (formerly Level B) in occupational settings.  These certificates are also recognized by the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA). The courses take place in Cambridge several times a year (as well as online), and meet the professional guidelines of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). The BPS Certificates are the established qualifications for anyone seeking career development in HR management. They are also a sought-after qualification for those involved in professional psychological consultancy.

Our course combines both the Ability (Level A) and Personality (Level B) certificates into one course over 5 days.

Topics Covered

  • Ability (formerly Level A):  The course covers all the underlying principles and practice for the application of ability testing for recruitment and staff development in an organisation. As well as learning the significance of basic testing concepts such as reliability, validity, standardisation and equivalence, candidates practice the fundamentals of testing etiquette, including how to provide a fair testing environment, how to meet the legal requirements, the essentials of report writing and the challenging task of providing feedback to candidates. This is an ideal course for HR and other professionals who wish to apply the benefits of psychometric testing within their organisation or as a consultant.
  • Personality (formerly Level B): The course builds on the basic knowledge taught in Level A. Level B training introduces you to personality testing, a key technology in staff development, organisational change, restructuring and senior appointments. The Level B element focuses on the work-based personality test Orpheus Business Personality Inventory (OBPI) and the integrity test Giotto. The course will enable you to use and interpret the OBPI as well as provide you with transferable knowledge and skills in the areas of work personality and feeding back personal information.

Please note that this course is accredited by the BPS and not by the University of Cambridge. Delegates attending the course will receive a digital copy of their Certificate of Attendance, displaying the logos of the University of Cambridge Psychometrics Centre and British Psychological Society. On submission of a completed portfolio to the course instructor (which will be marked), delegates may apply for the Register of Qualifications in Test Use.

Delegate feedback from the first time the workshop ran in live online format:

  • "A week which was both interesting and challenging - everything you want in a useful course"
  • "Turning very unfavourable circumstances into an opportunity to deliver alternative yet successful training was a remarkable feat of adaptability and resilience"

Before attending:

1. Install the Zoom Client for Meetings. You will receive an invite to the Zoom sessions from instructors after course registration. The native client works better than the browser plug-in.

2. Make sure you have a stable internet connection and that your microphone, headphones and webcam are all working in Zoom. You will need to use these throughout the course to communicate with instructors and other delegates.

3. You can expect to receive a link to the Zoom call approximately a week in advance of the training
