Dr David Good, Social Psychologist
David Good is a Director of Education at the University of Cambridge and also a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology; a Fellow of Kings College, Cambridge, a member of the Governing Body of the Royal College of Art, and Education Director at the Cambridge-MIT Institute.
David's research interests include the interpersonal and psychological processes underlying human communication, and the social consequences which follow. This involves studying phenomena ranging from interactional breakdown in certain psychopathologies to the use of new media in the creation of electronic town halls. Recently, his focus has been on the study of information and communication technologies, and the use of ideas from human communication in the design of novel ICT. In his work for the Cambridge MIT Institute David has initiated many educational interventions, and worked with colleagues to develop instruments and regimes to further our understanding of Higher Education practice, and to assess relevant outcomes.
David's teaching at early undergraduate level covers topics in social, developmental, personality, and abnormal psychology, and in methods. At the advanced undergraduate level he focuses on social interaction and language use from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. David has served on the Council of Cambridge University.
David took his B.A. in Social Psychology and Cognitive Studies at the University of Sussex and his Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge Department of Experimental Psychology.
