Courses for Cambridge University Postgraduates
Michaelmas Term 2011: Training courses on the use of statistical and mathematical software frequently used by psychometricians.
The Joint Schools Social Sciences Methods Programme of the University of Cambridge School of Humanities and Social Science provides training courses on statistical methods, primarily aimed at postgraduate students in psychology, sociology, economics, international relations and politics. For details see the JSSS timetable. Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment.
For those who prefer self-guided learning, you can't do better than Statnotes, an online publication by David Garson of North Carolina State University that is constantly updated and free for educational use (through linking only).
Training courses in Stata and R, as well as in other languages are provided by University of Cambridge Computing Services. These courses are bookable but places are limited. Details are provided on the Computing Services website.
For students of the Graduate School of Life Sciences, the School's Skills Development Programme includes several statistical sessions of interest to psychometricians. This term these include 'Factors in Applied Multivariate Data Analysis' (2.15-4.45, 26th October), and 'Linear Regression and SEM (2.15 - 4.45,16th November). There are a limited number of places and so pre-booking is essential (Choose AY01: Multivariate Statistics).
