Thore Graepel is a principal researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge (MSRC), UK, and heads the research part of the Online Services and Advertising (OSA) group. The OSA group conducts research in the area of applied machine learning and game theory with applications to online advertising, online gaming, and web search. Thore is a Senior Member of Wolfson College, Cambridge, and also a Senior Member of IEEE. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Machine Learning Research (JMLR), Springer’s Machine Learning Journal (MLJ) and is a founding editor of Chapman-Hall’s Machine Learning & Pattern Recognition book series. Thore has a strong academic track record with over 60 peer-reviewed publications in machine learning and probabilistic modelling. His basic research includes probabilistic models, knowledge representation and reasoning, and, more recently, aspects of behavioural game theory, crowdsourcing, and psychometrics.
