Biography

Sabah Merchant completed her MPhil in Social and Developmental Psychology at the University of Cambridge in 2011, and apprenticed her project in The Psychometrics Centre.  She holds an Oxbridge Scholarship from the Oxbridge Society of India, an award from the Cambridge Trusts, and support from the J N Tata and Aga Khan Foundations. Sabah graduated with distinction in Psychology from the University of Bombay in 2007, focussing her research on programmes to assist young people, students and their parents from diverse backgrounds and varied walks of life. She completed her Masters in Psychology (Part 1) from the University of Mumbai in 2010.

Between 2007 and 2009 Sabah was an executive in communication and marketing at IMS Learning Resources Pvt in Bombay, providing both professional and personal guidance to students, parents and teachers alike. She is a volunteer with Pratham, teaching English to children from the slums of Bombay City and conducting various competitions for pre-primary and primary school children. Sabah is also involved with Aga Khan Education Services, having designed Parent Orientation Modules that raise some important concerns regarding parenting and address effective ways fo dealing with them. She has also been a member of the Youth and Sports Board for North Bombay, conducting various activities for youth, organising debates, competitions and seminars.
